THE TRUTH ABOUT SKINCARE
If you have perfect skin, please raise your hand. If you don’t, join the club. Having a bad skin day can truly mess with your mind. From first-hand experience, I know how much it can get to you, but don’t worry I’m here to help:
1. Regularly drink water infused with lemon and mint!
Lemons are enriched with vitamin C which rejuvenates your skin from within, bringing a glow to your face. Mint soothes your skin and helps relieve irritation, redness, and itchiness. Together, drinking one glass of lemon/mint water a day will do you wonders! All you have to do it slice up a lemon, grab a few mint leaves, mix them with water, and you’re good to go.
2. Control your intake.
Whoever said you are what you eat wasn’t lying. Cut down on the sugar intake, decrease your alcohol consumption, and be mindful of greasy foods because they will later haunt your skin. Taking care of your skin means taking care of your body too.
3. Use a moisturizer for your skin type.
Even if you have oily skin, you need a solid moisturizer to hydrate your skin. Hydrated skin is healthy skin and without a moisturizer, your skin will try to produce its own moisture by producing more oil on your face.

4. Only wash your face twice a day.
Wash your skin only when you wake up in the morning and before you go to bed at night. Washing any more than that will strip your skin of its natural oils and cause irritation, leading to acne.
5. Be as gentle as possible.
Ever wonder why certain face products or getting your eyebrows threaded/waxed sometimes causes your skin to break out? It’s because irritation causes acne! Don’t over exfoliate your face, pick at it, or over-rub when drying with a towel because it will cause you to break out. Only exfoliate 1-2 times a week and be extremely gentle. Don’t touch and pick at it throughout the day. When drying your skin with a towel, pat dry rather than rubbing. Irritating your skin will only cause it to react by breaking out.
*Wash only using warm and cool water, burning hot and freezing cold will cause irritation!
6. Change your pillowcases, bed sheets & towels EVERY WEEK.
This is common sense but is often easily forgotten. Don’t be lazy! Change things that touch your skin on a regular basis.
7. Take off your makeup before you sleep.
This step is so important and so easily overlooked. Make sure you take off ALL your makeup before you go to bed. A lot of times, one makeup wipe isn’t enough to remove all the gunk that has been on your face all day. Following up with a cleanser will ensure your face is squeaky clean. (And don’t forget to moisturize afterwards!)
8. Wear sunscreen.
Protected skin is healthy skin. There are tons of moisturizers out there that already have SPF in them! If not, mix your moisturizer with sunscreen. Aaaaaand wearing sunscreen prevents wrinkles! The more SPF, the better.
9. Go the extra step.
If all else fails and you’re still not seeing results for your skin, there are other things you can do! Acne.org is an acne regimen that works as long as you’re not allergic to benzoyl peroxide. If you don’t believe me watch all the success stories on YouTube or on their site. (This isn’t sponsored at all, acne.org saved my life).
